A significant blow to New Orleans’ receiver room headlines today’s update, while San Francisco and Indianapolis both have banged-up pass-catchers working to be ready for Week 1.
Wide Receivers
Saints rookie Jordyn Tyson, the No. 8 overall pick, is expected to miss roughly two months with a hamstring injury suffered in training camp, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport. Head coach Kellen Moore said the injury is unrelated to the hamstring issues that bothered Tyson this spring. A two-month absence would sideline him into October, essentially erasing his fantasy value for the first several weeks of the season. Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele step up as New Orleans’ clear top options in the meantime, with fellow rookies Bryce Lance and Barion Brown next in line for target-share bumps. Given Tyson’s injury history dating back to college, this is a name to shelve on redraft boards for now rather than one to chase on the waiver wire early.
In San Francisco, Mike Evans is working through a minor groin injury after already missing time earlier in camp with a quad issue, but he’s expected to play in the 49ers’ September 10 opener against the Rams in Melbourne. His health matters more than usual for this offense with Ricky Pearsall already out for the season and Brandon Aiyuk still working his way back, which leaves Evans as one of Brock Purdy’s few proven options at receiver heading into Week 1.
Tight Ends
Colts tight end Tyler Warren is dealing with a groin injury that will keep him out roughly a week and sideline him for Saturday’s preseason game against Atlanta, but it’s not considered serious and his Week 1 status against the Ravens looks secure. Warren posted 817 receiving yards as a rookie last season, and with starting wideout Alec Pierce still working back from ankle surgery on the active/PUP list, Warren should remain a central piece of Indianapolis’ passing game once he’s back to full health.
Running Backs
Quick note in New England: TreVeyon Henderson has been managing a minor ankle injury but is expected to be good to go for Week 1, so no real change to his outlook as a core piece of the Patriots backfield.
The Tyson injury is the biggest fantasy-relevant development of the day given how it reshapes New Orleans’ receiver room for the next two months, while the Evans and Warren situations both look manageable heading into final Week 1 preparations. We’ll keep monitoring practice reports as rosters and injury designations get finalized.
