The Philadelphia Eagles are benching quarterback Tanner McKee and will start Joe Milton against the New York Giants in Week 9, league sources told NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It’s a public about-face: coach Nick Sirianni said as recently as Monday that Philadelphia was sticking with McKee, but the Eagles have lost six straight games and sit 2-6, last in the NFC East.

McKee moved into the starting job when the Eagles placed Jalen Hurts on injured reserve on Oct. 19 with blood clots in both lungs; Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the season. McKee lost all three of his starts, completing 63.2% of his passes for 638 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He was also limited at Thursday’s practice with a rib injury (a chest issue on Wednesday’s report) and carries a Questionable tag on our tracked feed.

Milton, a 2024 sixth-round pick, joined the Eagles off the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad on Oct. 16 — one day before Hurts went on IR — after backing up Dak Prescott in Dallas last season. He’ll make his first career regular-season start Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field against a Giants team that leads the NFC East.

Fantasy action: drop McKee as a starting option in single-quarterback leagues and stash Milton only as a very speculative superflex add — he has no NFL starts and a struggling offensive line and receiver corps around him (DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley are both themselves Questionable for Sunday). Milton is unlikely to carry much fantasy value out of the gate.
