Lamar Jackson to IR, A.J. Brown Out: Week 8 Sunday Injury Recap

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens quarterback

Posted November 2, 2026 at 8:36 AM ET

Sunday delivered one of the uglier injury days of the season, capped by Lamar Jackson heading to injured reserve for thumb surgery. A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and TreVeyon Henderson all sat out, Jeremiyah Love re-aggravated an ankle in overtime, and Breece Hall was a late scratch. The week isn’t quite over, though β€” Chicago and Seattle close out Week 8 Monday night, and this week’s practice reports gave us a clearer picture of who’s good to go for that one.

Our availability-risk tiers, not NFL designations: 🟒 trending toward playing Β· 🟑 availability uncertain Β· πŸ”΄ elevated risk of missing, or confirmed out Β· βšͺ bye. Questionable/Doubtful/Out appear only where a team’s final injury report has been released; other labels reflect practice reports through Saturday, Oct. 31 and our injury feed.

Quarterbacks

πŸ”΄ IR β€” Lamar Jackson (BAL): Jackson suffered a thumb injury on Baltimore’s first offensive snap Sunday against Buffalo and needs surgery; coach Jesse Minter said he could “potentially” miss the rest of the season. Backup Tyler Huntley also exited that game with a toe injury, pushing undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano into relief as the Bills rolled to a 36-10 win. Baltimore placed Jackson on injured reserve Monday, per the team’s official announcement.

Fantasy action: start Joe Fagnano only out of single-QB desperation, or stream a free agent instead; stash Fagnano in superflex and deep dynasty formats.

Running Backs

πŸ”΄ Out β€” TreVeyon Henderson (NE): Henderson was added back to the injury report with an illness this week and did not play Sunday at Miami, per the Patriots’ official inactives list. Rhamondre Stevenson took the bulk of the backfield work in his absence.

Fantasy action: start Rhamondre Stevenson as New England’s lead back until Henderson is healthy again.

🟑 Re-aggravated ankle β€” Jeremiyah Love (ARI): Love had fully practiced and carried no designation into Sunday’s game at Dallas, cleared of the sprained ankle that cost him two games, but he re-aggravated the same ankle in the first half and did not return as Arizona won in overtime, 33-30. Tyler Allgeier, who has filled in before, took over again once Love exited.

Fantasy action: put Love on a questionable-for-next-week watch list and start Tyler Allgeier as Arizona’s lead back until the ankle clears.

πŸ”΄ Out β€” Breece Hall (NYJ): Hall, still working back from the quadriceps injury that has limited him since Week 3, was downgraded to Out just ahead of kickoff for Sunday’s home game against Las Vegas. Braelon Allen handled the lead role in his absence.

Fantasy action: bench Hall and start Braelon Allen as New York’s lead back again.

πŸ”΄ Out β€” Kyle Monangai (CHI): Monangai, sidelined since early October by a thumb sprain, did not practice again this week and was ruled Out for a fourth straight game ahead of Monday night’s road game at Seattle, per the Chicago Sun-Times. D’Andre Swift has handled the lead role in Monangai’s absence all four weeks.

Fantasy action: bench Monangai Monday night and start D’Andre Swift as Chicago’s lead back.

🟒 Cleared β€” Zach Charbonnet (SEA): Charbonnet, working back from last year’s torn ACL, turned in his first full practice of the recovery on Wednesday and has come off the injury report entirely ahead of Monday night’s game against Chicago.

Fantasy action: start Charbonnet with confidence Monday night; Seattle’s crowded backfield committee is no longer the safer play now that he’s fully cleared.

Wide Receivers

πŸ”΄ Out β€” A.J. Brown (NE): Brown returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since spraining his ankle in Week 1 but was limited by a separate issue, then did not participate Thursday or Friday. New England downgraded him to Out on Saturday, and he did not play Sunday at Miami, per the Patriots’ official inactives list.

Fantasy action: bench Brown; DeMario Douglas is the Patriots receiver to stream in his place.

πŸ”΄ Out β€” DeVonta Smith (PHI): Smith did not practice all week and missed Sunday night’s game at Washington with a hamstring injury, per the Eagles’ inactive list.

Fantasy action: bench Smith; start Makai Lemon in PPR formats in his place.

πŸ”΄ Out β€” Rashid Shaheed (SEA): Shaheed is dealing with a knee injury and is Out for Monday night’s home game against Chicago, per our tracked injury feed.

Fantasy action: bench Shaheed Monday night; he’s a deep-league flex piece even when healthy.

Tight Ends

πŸ”΄ Out β€” Jake Ferguson (DAL): Ferguson left Sunday’s home game against Arizona with an ankle injury and did not return, per RotoWire and CBS Sports. Backup Luke Schoonmaker is also out this week with a groin injury.

Fantasy action: there’s no streamable Dallas tight end behind Ferguson this week; look elsewhere on the wire.

🟒 Cleared β€” Colston Loveland (CHI): Loveland picked up a neck injury on the practice field this week and carried a Questionable tag into Friday’s report, but he’s since come off the injury report entirely ahead of Monday night’s game at Seattle.

Fantasy action: start Loveland with confidence at Seattle on Monday night.
